We are fortunate here at Kingsmead that we are situated in the heart of an outstanding area of natural beauty helping us develop place led learning and fostering valuable cultural capital. Evidence suggests that a greater amount of natural spaces in or around the learning environment is associated with better emotional, behavioural, and learning processes and outcomes.
Here on school grounds we have an abundance of areas outside which are embedded into the heart of learning. Indeed, learning outside the classroom at Kingsmead can happen at almost any time and almost anywhere and is an essential way of learning.
Our dedicated outdoor classroom gives students access to frequent, continuous, and progressive experiences across all subject areas. We do really aim to engage all the senses here at Kingsmead. Sight, smell, hearing, and touch with a physical immersion are all involved with plans for water areas around school and forest school area with fire pit.
