Period 6 Catch Up

Period 6 Booster sessions are available to students in years 11 & 13. All year 11 students attend timetabled Period 6 Booster sessions in all of their subjects and in year 13 this is a subject-specific targeted intervention programme based on the needs of the students studying that qualification and may be coursework or examination based. For both year groups this is a bespoke programme designed to close any gaps in knowledge and application that have been identified and ensure students achieve the best possible outcomes in their examinations.  In previous years the Booster sessions have increased students’ grades by on average 1 grade, demonstrating the positive impact of them.

The process- (In line with the 6-week assessment cycles)

  • Weaknesses of students are identified by the subject leader
  • Following this, students will receive planned intervention during the period 6 sessions from their subject teachers.  Independent study may also be set or attendance at Saturday School to support further.
  • At the end of the intervention cycle, students are assessed on the area of weakness identified. This allows students to demonstrate progress, feel success and improve their confidence in the that area.
