Historically, progress reports only told parents what grades or scores their child was working at in their subjects. We then used progress evenings to give parents more detailed information on their child’s progress.
However, with the current situation, there is no guarantee that your child's teachers we will be able to meet with you regularly, to discuss their progress. And now more than ever before, we need to tell you what your child can and can’t do.
Students and their teachers know what they can and can’t do from their personal learning checklists (PLC) - a list of the knowledge and skills they should have mastered by the end of each topic.
To ensure that you know what your child can and can't do, we will share between 5 and 15 of their "I can..." statements from each subject PLC with you, at each progress report.
Students in Years 7, 8 & 9 will receive "I can..." statements in the core subjects (English, Maths and Science) after every cycle and for every subject at the end of each term (so after cycles 2, 4 and 6).
Students in Years 10, 11, 12 & 13 will receive updated "I can..." statements for every subject after each teaching cycle.
