Closing the Gaps

Recovery Post-Pandemic

Intent:

Students in Year 6-Year 13 have had the most difficult two years in the history of modern education. All students will have been affected by the pandemic, creating significant gaps in their learning. In total, it is estimated that the most disadvantaged will have moved back 14 months from where they would be expected to be in terms of academic and emotional development, reading age, literacy and numeracy.

Our whole school ‘Closing the Gaps’ Intervention programme aims to:

  • To identify and close gaps in core subjects for students joining Kingsmead from primary school
  • To fill gaps in skills/knowledge across the curriculum for all students
  • To utilise the Blended Learning Platform as the home to ‘Closing the Gaps’ Learning Activitie
  • To close personal development and wellbeing gaps the pandemic has created
