Catch-Up Statement
Year 7 Catch Up
We believe that every school has a duty to ensure that each individual child is entitled to the best possible chance of achieving their potential.
Any KS3 student who joined Kingsmead with a KS2 result that was below the expected standard (Students not achieved a score of 100+ in English and/or Maths at the end of Key Stage 2) is entitled to additional intervention from the government’s catch up premium. This is to improve their literacy and numeracy skills to enable them to succeed throughout school and make their expected progress. Kingsmead will provide additional intervention to those who struggle with literacy and numeracy through targeted interventions.
We plan to ensure that we use our Year 7 Catch-Up funding to address the shortfall of those students who joined our school below the ‘secondary-ready’ threshold.
The new KS2 assessment system produced standardised scores and the following proportions of students are now determined as not being secondary-ready in the current Year 7-8 cohorts are:
