We will be providing learning from the 5th January 2021 for all year groups. Work will follow a student’s normal timetable (we start back on Week 2 of the two week timetable). For full details see the 'remote education provision' document at the bottom of this page.
If you have any issues with learning at home please contact us for support.
If you are happy (or maybe even delighted) with what we are all achieving, please take 5 minutes to let OFSTED know on 0300 123 1231
99.3% of Kingsmead children were all actively learning online today (13/01/21) - you did that!
We would all be so grateful.
Each student will have 5 lessons worth of work a day (6 if they are Year 11 or 6th Form. Period 6 will continue remotely)
Each lesson will have 45 minutes worth of work, not the normal hour. This is to allow for logging onto programmes, working with the IT and the fact that tasks take longer remotely.
A student will not be expected to have 5 hours of pure zoom lessons as research (EEF, John Hattie, 2020) suggests students are very passive in these. We want learning to be purposeful and challenging for all learners. We do however want to use Zoom and other tools even more during the next few weeks than we have before to help students (and parents). Zoom will be used to explain the tasks student will go on to do giving them chance to ask early if they are unsure. It will be used for students to also get help if they need it. It’s a great way for us to check in with students, for them to support each other and important for wellbeing. This will be based on the subject, type of task and needs of the students.
We will aim to have work available at the start of the day where possible. This means students can move at their own pace if they wish to start early, like some did.
Staff will be in school and available to help on-line through Satchel One or zoom sessions.
The learning will be set as a task on Satchel one. There will be resources and help linked to our own blended learning platform where it is needed.

Attached below is a link to view a short video explaining how to access the blended learning platform which we originally sent out in a letter on the 24/11/2020.
We will be publishing a full breakdown of the provision we are providing students on the 4th January 2021.
If you have not yet received a laptop you have purchased through the school via the Stone/FreedomTech leasing scheme, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org to make arrangements to collect it. We have had pickup sessions for each year group, but we still have some devices that haven’t been collected and that we haven’t been contacted about to make alternative arrangements.
If you have any queries regarding the Blended Learning project, have problems with your laptop or want to arrange collection, you can email email@example.com and one of us will reply as soon as possible.
