Hot Chocolate with the Head
At Kingsmead, we believe every student’s voice matters — and we love to hear it. Hot Chocolate with the Head is a special opportunity for students to meet informally with our Headteacher Mr. Averis over a delicious cup of hot chocolate and share their thoughts, ideas, and experiences of life at Kingsmead.
Whether it's celebrating achievements, discussing school life, or suggesting improvements, these relaxed, face-to-face meetings give students the chance to be heard directly by school leadership. It’s a time to connect, reflect, and shape the future of our school together.
These conversations build confidence, encourage open communication, and help foster the sense of community that makes Kingsmead such a special place to learn and grow.
Year 7
A Warm Welcome for Our Wonderful Year 7s
Mr. Averis recently enjoyed a special catch-up over hot chocolate with a group of our Year 7 students, joined by their Progress Leaders, Miss Hinton and Miss Hall. It was a fantastic opportunity to hear first-hand how our newest students are settling into life at Kingsmead.
The group shared lots of positive stories — from making new friends and discovering fresh interests, to embracing the wide range of Enrichment activities on offer. Whether it's calligraphy, boxing, chess, card games, or rehearsing for our upcoming school production, it's clear our Year 7s are already exploring new skills and stepping confidently into school life.
Students spoke enthusiastically about their lessons, highlighting how much they’re enjoying subjects such as Maths, English, Art, PE and Science. Most importantly, it was heartening to hear how safe, happy and supported they feel at Kingsmead. One student commented, “Kingsmead is a big school, but it’s very calming with lots of support.”
Though it’s only been five weeks, the positive impact of our Year 7s is already being felt throughout the school. Their polite manners, enthusiasm, and positive attitudes are a credit to them — and we’re so proud to have them as part of our Kingsmead community.
