Why study art and design
A Level Art and Design at Kingsmead is an exciting, practical and creative course for students who want to develop their own artistic identity while building a broad range of technical and creative skills. Through practical workshops, artist research, experimentation and sustained projects, they develop skills across a range of materials, techniques and processes.
Students learn to investigate ideas, take creative risks, refine their work and produce ambitious final outcomes.
Art and Design develops more than practical artistic ability. Students become confident visual communicators and independent thinkers, developing organisation, research, analysis, reflection and decision-making skills that are valuable across a wide range of future pathways.
A Level Art and Design can support progression into Fine Art, Illustration, Graphic Design, Architecture, Fashion, Photography, Interior Design, Animation, Film and Television, Games Design, Set and Prop Design, Art Education and many other creative careers.
Students who enjoy creativity and experimentation will find A Level Art and Design a rewarding and highly individual course.
