Why study medical science

Medical Science provides an exciting opportunity to explore the scientific principles that underpin modern healthcare and medical practice. At Kingsmead, studying Medical Science helps students develop a broad understanding of human biology, physiology, disease, diagnosis, treatment and medical research.

Through a combination of theoretical study and practical application, students gain insight into contemporary medical issues, healthcare careers, and the ethical considerations associated with Medical Science.

The course develops a range of valuable academic and transferable skills, including critical thinking, scientific analysis, research, problem-solving and interpretation of evidence. These skills provide an excellent foundation for further study and future employment.

Medical Science is particularly suited to students considering careers within healthcare, biomedical science and the wider life science sector. It can support progression to higher education, degree apprenticeships or employment in areas such as healthcare, laboratory science, biomedical research, clinical services and other science-related professions.
