WHY STUDY PSYCHOLOGY
Psychology offers the opportunity to explore a fascinating range of topics that delve into the human mind and behaviour. You will develop your understanding of why people think, feel and behave in different ways, exploring topics including infant attachment, social and group behaviour, memory, the science of the brain and psychological disorders such as OCD, depression and phobias.
You will consider psychological research and theories, examine evidence and explore how psychologists investigate questions about behaviour and mental processes. Psychology develops a wide range of valuable academic and transferable skills. You will learn to think critically, evaluate theories and evidence, analyse research and apply psychological concepts to real-world situations. You will also develop your ability to construct reasoned arguments, interpret information and communicate your ideas clearly.
Psychology opens up a range of pathways for careers in the private sector in HR, management or marketing, the public sector with clinical careers in the NHS, teaching, or specialisms working with rehabilitating offenders or law enforcement, as well as occupational and educational psychology.
